We met in August of 2019 at a bar called Gramercy Tavern while we were both on spontaneous trips to NYC.

After talking we discovered that we grew up 25min away from each other! (Brian grew up in Downers Grove and lived in Austin, and Katie grew up in Palos Heights, at the time residing in Lincoln Park) After coming to this realization, we both simultaneously gave each other a high-five and said “hand hung”, It felt like a scene from a movie, where we immediately just clicked.

The next day we went for drinks at Treadwell Park, however it had to come to an end since Brian had dinner reservations at the prestigious Eleven Maddison Park with his friends. (Rated at the time, one of the best restaurants in the world). Before dropping him off at his dinner Katie took the ribbon off her bracelet and tied it around Brian’s wrist as a reminder to call her. Brian went into the restaurant, and Katie thought she might not see him again since he leaves for Austin the next day. Fate stepped in, and mid 10 course meal, Brian left

to come find Katie.

They proceeded to have a long-distance relationship before Katie made the move to Austin!

Fast forward 4 years later, while on our 4 year “met ya” anniversary in NYC, Brian proposed while overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. NY will always have a special place in our heart!
